Classic Wine Tour of Sicily
1st day Our first morning trip leads us to the highest active volcano of Europe - Etna, passing through pine woods, vineyards and a spectacular landscape of lava dunes. Today we are guests of "Murgo" winery: a visit to wine cellars, a walk across the vineyards and a home-cooked lunch are on the menu. Driving to Palazzolo Acreide we have a chance to stop at one of the most interesting Norman castles in Aci Castello and to observe the spectacular Riviera dei Ciclopi. After settling in our elegant hotel a special dinner with the presentation of Sicilian wines is waiting for us
2nd day After breakfast we explore a lively ancient town of Palazzolo and enjoy it's baroque churches, medieval districts and the archaeological park of an ancient Greek town of Akrai (664 B.C.) that includes a charming Theatre, "latomie", Senate building and a unique complex of life-sized figures dedicated to goddess Cibele (Magna Mater). Later we are welcomed to the local winery "Colle Acre" for a wine tasting and lunch. The afternoon is dedicated to the myth of Syracuse. Our local guide leads us on ancient paths of the city of Archimedes to explore "The Ear of Dionysius", Theatre, Roman amphitheatre and the island of Ortigia.
3rd day An unforgettable guided walking about Villa Romana and Piazza Armerina ends with a visit to the "Maurigi" winery. After lunch we visit Caltagirone especially famous for its ceramics.
4th day Today we visit Noto, the capital of Sicilian baroque, and admire the most beautiful baroque balconies in the world. After a special lunch at the "Principi di Butera" winery, we walk along the Valley of Temples near Agrigento that date from 400 B.C.and ancient ruins of Eraclea.Our hotel in Sciacca, famous for its excellent termal spa is our base for two nights.
5th day A leisure walk around the temples of Selinunte and the Arancio lake leads us to the wine cellars and vineyards of the "Planeta" winery, where we will be having lunch. The rest of the day is free for you to spend your time as you wish
6th day The next morning visit is to the historic "Florio" winery that produces a spectacular Marsala wine from 1883. Then we stroll around the island of Mozia and move to a medieval town of Erice. After dinner in a local trattoria we drive to Palermo.
7th day Today we meet our guide to explore the artistic heritage of the capital of Sicily and then we visit the spectacular Duomo of Monreale. We stop for a glorious lunch in "Rapital?" estate, known for its excellent wine.
8th day We'll flank the spectacular coast to drive up to Cefal?. Today we'll have a magic time at the Abbazia di Sant'Anastasia - an exclusive hotel carved from a medieval abbey and a well known winery. Walks through nearby olive plantations and vineyards, a visit to its private wine cellar, a fantastic lunch and even a more memorable dinner are on the menu
9th day Next morning we ferry to Salina island to visit the "Hauner" winery and to taste it's unique Malvasia. Our next stop is Lipari, the largest of the Aeolian Islands, where we enjoy an unforgettable lunch and stay one night.
10th day Our last day exploration includes Taormina, it's medieval "borgo" and the most famous Greek theatre of Sicily. You also have ample time to enjoy playing golf in a local golf club (18 Holes Par 72).
Important: It's possible to participate just in first 7days of the tour - "mini tour" or to have a complete package - "maxi tour". As soon as we receive your reservation, we will send you a detailed itinerary and conditions. If you prefer to arrive earlier or to continue your vacation in Sicily after our tour is over, we can help you with hotel reservations and transfers to and from the airports of Catania and Palermo or the railway-station of Syracuse. The price is based on two people per room and includes: for minitour all breakfasts + 2 dinners + 7 lunches; for maxitour all breakfasts + 3 dinners + 9 lunches.
