In addition to the outstanding golf courses, the Fancourt Golf Academy is an active part of the resort's commitment to golf. Highly trained professionals capture lessons on videotape as both a souvenir and a lasting method of improving your game.

Lost City Golf Course
Designed by: Gary Player
Par 72; 6983m

South Africa's most famous golfer has designed an interesting course with a "links" feel ? but which includes some decidedly local hazards. Two Baobab trees guard one green, and some greens and tees have been terraced into the side of the Pilanesberg mountains.

For more excitement, consider one water hole on the back nine. In the midst of a desert it hosts live crocodiles! Perhaps this is why the course emphasizes the requirement of the use of golf carts!

Plettenberg Bay Country Club

Par 72; 5954m

Set in the Piesang (Banana) Valley, Plettenberg Bay Country Club is situated on South Africa's famous Garden Route. Distances on the course vary from 470m to a scant 110m, but challenges await the golfer on most holes.

This course is in the midst of a nature reserve and is the home of a vast array of bird and other native life. The enchanting setting can almost lull the golfer into forgetting that he is playing an excellent and demanding course.

Sparrebosch
Designed by: Ronald Fream
Par 72; 5954m

Opened in 1999, this course resembles most a championship Scottish highlands links-style golf course. Much of the terrain is covered with fynbos, which strongly resembles Scottish heather.

The 14th and 15th holes of this new course play along steep cliffs above the Indian Ocean and are an experience not to be missed by the expert or the improving player

Steenberg Golf Club
Designed by: Peter Matkovich
Par 72; 6424m

This exclusive course occupies the oldest peninsula wine estate outside of Cape Town. It winds around and through vineyards and has its share of watery hazards. The par 3 hole 7, for example, is virtually an island green.

The course is designed to reward those who successfully execute a carefully planned strategy. It has much to offer to players of every level.
